Personal Journey of Intuitive Development - The Early Days

Updated: Aug 3, 2021

Before I begin I must acknowledge that everyone has their own experience with both intuitive and personal development. This is my journey through my eyes only, all eyes, including my third eye.

The deeper part of my intuitive development began through a year long Spiritual and Intuitive Development program some years back. In the beginning, I felt very unsure of any of my intuitive impressions. I did not share anything for some time. I would sit quietly listening to others in the class practice energetic readings.

For one thing, the program was actually called a Clairvoyant Program. At that time I had a limited view of what Clairvoyance actually meant as well as the various ways that intuitive impressions or information can be perceived. I thought I literally needed to see something to interpret. And indeed the literal meaning of Clairvoyance according to Wikipedia is ‘Clear Vision’. So, I stuck with this limited definition in my mind in the beginning until I began taking some chances with the information that I was receiving through my own inner personal receiver or intuition.

I also required encouragement from the teachers that I was at least somewhat on the right track with what I was receiving. Early on I was not ‘seeing’ much in my mind’s eye. Later I would begin perceiving colors and motion. Now, depending on the work I am doing, I perceive visions or pictures at times. But, in my experience those pictures are not necessarily like ones we see out of our physical eyes. It is different each time. To stay on point here, what I really wish I understood in the beginning of my deeper dive into my development is that Clairvoyance encompasses so much more than what my limited understanding was at that time.

Wikipedia goes on to say that, “Clairvoyance is the claimed ability to gain information about an object, person, location, or physical event through extrasensory perception”. And there are even more Clairs: Claircognizance (knowing), Clairsentience (feeling), Clairgustance (tasting), Clairaudience (hearing) and Clairaliance (smelling). Each of these are possible ways that one may receive intuitive or mediumistic impressions. They are all potential starting points to opening the door to intuitive development or awareness.

Now that I am beginning to understand all of the possibilities, it is fun to try beginning an intuitive reading or mediumship connection by focusing on a flavor or taste or a sound. If all goes well, it will have some meaning for the receiver or sitter (person receiving the message). During a professional reading, I go with what comes through and often for me it comes through Clairvoyance, Claircognizance and Clairaudience, with a few sprinkles of the other ‘Clairs’ popping in from time to time. The key is to trust what’s coming through.
